Dublin Climate Action Week
15th September 2021. (10:00am - 11:00am)
This event will introduce Regional Energy Demand Analysis Portal (REDAP), an SEAI co-funded decision-support tool which will help guide Dublin’s energy transition.
During this presentation, policy-makers, planners and other public representatives are invited to learn about how REDAP can be used to map and profile energy consumption in the building stock and mobility sectors (incl. average fuel types, expenditure and load profiles).
Attendees will also gain an understanding of how these data insights can be used to define Climate Action Plans and decarbonisation zones, to engage with Sustainable Energy Communities and to promote regions as attractive places to live, work and invest in.
REDAP Presentation to ESB
15th July 2021
During an hour-long online session, Oisin Doherty (Codema) and Niall Conway (Spatial Outlook Ltd.) presented the REDAP PoC to ESB, Ireland's commercial semi-state company and distribution operator. Audience members included management from Electric Ireland, ESB Networks, ESB International, and the ESB Innovation Hub.
The presentation centred around the overlap between local governments citizen-focused decarbonisation action and how this relates to ESB's customer-focused activities. The presentation was followed by a very informative Q&A session on the topics of building stock and mobility energy demand.
Need-Owner Workshop Part 2
28th March 2021
The second need-owner workshop allows the consortium partners to present and demonstrate improved REDAP Proof of Concept System to an audience of need-owners from Austria, Sweden and Ireland. This included Dublin's energy agency, Codema, the City of Gothenburg Council (including Göteborg Energi), and Austrian Energy planning agencies, EKUT, and Klima-und Energie-Modellregionen Schwarzatal. The workshop also enjoyed the participation of representatives from the Swedish Energy Agency and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
As the R&D team continue to work towards an operational and deployable software system, the invaluable end-user feedback which was received will be incorporated into the various software, analytical methodologies and use-case processes.
REDAP @ Beyond 2020 Conference!
3rd November 2020
A paper by the REDAP consortium partners Ali Hainoun (AIT) and Niall Conway (Spatial Outlook Ltd.) was presented on day 2 of the recent Beyond 2020 conference which was originally planned for Gothenburg, Sweden. The paper explained the background, purpose and aims of the REDAP project and was delivered during the GIS/Machine learning session alongside energy-focused speakers from Europe and the US. Read the paper here.
Need-Owner Workshop 1 - Demo
30th September 2020

Partners Meeting, Vienna
26th & 27th February 2020
REDAP consortium partners from Ireland, Austria and Sweden met at the Austrian Institute of Technology to discuss the upcoming building and mobility workpackages deliverables. The partners also met with Otmar Schlager from the Austrian Need-owner, Energieagentur der Regionen (Energy Agency of the Regions) in order to learn about the frontline energy issues facing stakeholders from the Waidhofen an der Thaya in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.
Partners Meeting, Dublin
24th January 2020
On 24th January, Irish partners Codema, ICHEC (NUIG) and Spatial Outlook Ltd. welcomed representatives from project partners Austrian Institute of Technology and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) to Dublin for a very informative project meeting. During the meeting, the partners further refined the requirements of the energy demand analysis system which will be developed on behalf of the project Need-Owners. In particular, this centred around the estimation of energy demand from the transport and mobility sectors. More news and updates to follow.
UCD Symposium, Dublin
4th December 2019
REDAP consortium was represented at the sold-out UCD Sustainable Smart Cities & Communities Symposium which was held on 4th December.
REDAP project manager, Spatial Outlook presented at the parallel session entitle 'IoT, Artificial Intelligence and integrated services for smart cities and communities'. Co-presenters at the symposium included representatives from representatives from the SEAI, DG Energy, MIT Senseable City Lab, Codema, Smart Dublin, and US tech startup BigBelly Bins.
SEAI Conference, Dublin
20th November 2019
